体育足球比分St. John Fisher College was founded on the Basilian principles of “goodness, discipline, and knowledge.” Explore this heritage and other faith-based histories and traditions by enrolling in the College’s religious studies program.
As a religious studies major, you will:
- Read primary religious texts and literature
- Study the historical development of religious ideas, movements, and institutions
- Examine religious thought and behavior
- Contemplate contemporary intra- and inter-religious controversies
- Better understand the role of belief systems in modern society
Many religious studies majors elect to add a second major in related or associated fields such as history, English, education, psychology, political science, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, modern languages, or international studies.
The B.S. in religious studies requires 10 courses, selected in consultation with a departmental faculty advisor, for a total of 30 credits. You are required to take at least six courses from one of five areas of concentration:
- Roman Catholic theology
- World religions
- World scriptures
You also will be encouraged to select a foreign language—biblical, classical, or modern—that will help you explore the primary sources required for your major study.
体育足球比分The religious studies curriculum culminates in an independent study course. Under the direction of a program faculty member, you will write a major research paper and present your work before an audience of your peers within the program.
